Solar Panel Revamping
An old panel damaged by hail or bad weather and no longer on the market? We clone it to measure, identical to the original, to restore your system and stay within your feed-in-tariff technical specs.
Maximize the efficiency of your solar system
When hail or a weather event damages some modules on a system installed years ago, replacing them isn't trivial: those panels are often no longer sold, and fitting different modules risks pushing the system out of its feed-in-tariff technical specs — and losing the incentives. Photovoltaic revamping is the strategic solution for homeowners and businesses who want to restore the system without losing the tariffs already granted.
This is where our service comes in: MR WATT clones the original module, building it to measure with the same characteristics — identical dimensions, power, voltage and connectors. So you replace only the damaged panels, reuse existing structures and wiring, and keep the system compliant, preserving your feed-in tariffs.
Replacing worn or damaged modules with new clones — identical to the original, yet built with fresh, high-quality cells and materials — restores the output lost to years of degradation and delivers a concrete return on your energy bills. The whole process is remote: you send us the specifications of the faulty module — data, datasheet or photos — and we design and manufacture the clone identical to the original, delivered ready to install together with its datasheet and documentation. No site survey required.
Custom modules for revamping
For every project we rely on excellence only. MR WATT modules use high-efficiency silicon cells, tempered anti-reflective solar glass and encapsulants resistant to salt mist and ammonia — engineered to last decades outdoors.
We can replicate the exact footprint of the panels being replaced and optimize their power and voltage, keeping compatibility with your existing inverters and strings. The result is a modernized system — more reliable and more productive — with no masonry or structural work. Even where architectural integration or landscape-protection constraints prevent any change to the layout or appearance of the system, we reproduce the exact dimensions of the original panels (e.g. 1580×808 mm or 1650×980 mm) — often the only way to preserve the required visual harmony.
The 60-cell polycrystalline revamping module
The module we build to revamp older-generation systems: polycrystalline silicon, 60 cells, Made in Italy and certified. Here are the full specs.
Who revamping is for
- Residential systems — Restore your home solar output by replacing degraded or hail-damaged panels.
- Commercial & industrial — Large rooftops and warehouses: maximize self-consumption and reduce downtime.
- Feed-in-tariff systems — Upgrade the modules while keeping incentive tariffs, in line with grid-operator procedures.
- Discontinued modules — Your panel no longer on the market? We rebuild it to measure, identical to the original.
- Hail or event damage — Fast replacement of damaged modules for insurance claims and production recovery.
- Agrivoltaics & greenhouses — Modernization of pergolas, greenhouses and agrivoltaic structures with custom modules.
Frequently asked questions about revamping
- What is the difference between revamping and repowering?
- Revamping modernizes components (modules, inverters, wiring), restoring the original efficiency at the same nominal power. Repowering increases the installed power. Revamping is usually faster and does not require complex new permits.
- Do I lose my feed-in incentives if I replace the modules?
- No, if the work is done correctly. The new modules must meet the characteristics required by the grid operator and, for significant works, a notification must be sent within the set deadlines. We help you choose compliant modules.
- Can you replace panels that are no longer produced?
- Yes, this is our strength. We manufacture custom modules with the same dimensions as your original panels, so you keep existing structures, brackets and electrical layout.
- How much does production improve after revamping?
- It depends on the state of the system, but replacing worn modules with high-efficiency cells commonly recovers 20-25% of yield, with fewer failures and lower maintenance costs.
- My system is only a few years old, but the module is already out of production — how is that possible?
- It happens often: the market moves fast and modules from just 4-5 years ago — with specific sizes or technologies (full cells, 5 busbars) — are already superseded. For us it's not a problem: we rebuild the module identical to the original, ensuring the operational continuity of your system without redoing the whole installation.
- How do you keep my feed-in-tariff incentives compliant?
- Beyond the panel itself, the module's 'history' matters: the replacement must meet the specifications required at the time of the original installation. We supply certificates, datasheets and serial-number traceability, so your documentation stays consistent and the legal and economic life of your incentive is protected.
- How do I request a quote?
- Click 'Request a quote', select 'Revamping' as the quote type and attach the datasheet of the module to clone — or, if you don't have it, a photo of the label with the technical data on the back of the panel. That's all we need: we reply with an analysis and a tailored quote.
